Animals of the Kalahari desert
Fennex Fox- Lives in the deserts of Africa and live in groups of 10. They have big ears which helps it loose excess heat. The body length is just around 14 to 17 inches and its weight is about 2- 3.5 pounds. It feeds on desert plants and animals such as insects, rodents, birds, snails, berries and fruits.
Meerkat- The meerkats live in the southern deserts of Africa and is a burrowing animal and is one of the different kinds of mongoose. A Meerkats body length is between 10-14 inches and weighs just about 2 pounds. They feed on insects and larvae obtained by digging in the ground.
Nine-banded Armadillo- Nine-banded armadillos are omnivores and feed on fruits, ants, termites, beetles, worms, berries and vegetables. The body of a nine-banded armadillo is covered in a bony and platy protective shell and has white hair on the stomach. It has pointy ears, but its eyes are small. The body of the armadillo is brownish tan. Its length is 15- 23 inches and its weight is 10- 22 pounds.
